In March 2012, yoga practitioners embarked on a transformative 12-day retreat to India with Senior ISHTA Teacher Mona Anand, immersing themselves in yoga, meditation, and the rich cultural and natural landscapes of the country.
The journey began with six days at the Ranthambore Wildlife Sanctuary, where participants delved deeper into their practice while surrounded by the animals that inspired many asana poses. The stillness of the jungle provided the perfect setting for self-exploration and renewal. Guests stayed at the historic Taj Ranthambore Hotel, once the Maharaja of Jaipur’s hunting lodge, where they could relax by the pool and enjoy luxurious accommodations.
The retreat then continued to Goa, known for its pristine beaches, vibrant culture, and ancient temples and churches. For five days, guests surrendered to the tranquil atmosphere of the Taj Exotica, set amidst lush gardens overlooking the Arabian Sea. Here, yoga sessions were complemented by the soothing rhythm of the ocean, creating a deeply restorative experience.
Mona Anand guided daily practice sessions that included asana, pranayama, restorative yoga, Yoga Nidra, and meditation, along with philosophy discussions and specialty workshops designed to help students deepen their understanding of yoga. Well-respected Indian teachers from various disciplines also led special classes, offering unique perspectives and teachings.
This retreat provided an opportunity not only to advance one's yoga practice but also to experience the beauty and spirit of India, stepping away from daily life into a space of deep connection and renewal.
